The Panasonic Toughbook CF-53 supersedes the Toughbook CF-52. This latest model is drop-resistant, spill-resistant and is tested to nine MIL-STD-810G tests.
Panasonic claims that The 2.6 kilogram body delivers up to 10 hours of battery life. It is powered by a second generation Intel CoreTM i5-2520M vProTM processor and supports 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and optional 3G mobile broadband. It ships with 4GB of RAM that can be expanded to a maximum of 8GB.
The Toughbook CF-53 is pitched at professsionals in industries such as telecommunications, automotive diagnostics, engineering and surveying who need a unit that offers desktop-like performance as well as rugged strength, wireless connectivity and lightweight mobility.

Semi-rugged is the best way to describe the CF-53. It’s water and dirt resistant rather than proof and is designed to withstand drops from around one metre, rather than down mine shafts. Similarly, it will work at temperatures between 60˚C and -20˚C, but set it on fire or put it in an oven at Gas Mark 7 and you are stuffed.
